Tottenham have two new injury concerns as they prepare to face Galatasaray in the Europa League.
Spurs knocked Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before completing a stunning second-half turnaround to beat Aston Villa 4-1 in the Premier League on Sunday.
It means Ange Postecoglou’s side are just two points outside the top four and represents a huge change in fortunes after the disappointment of defeat at Crystal Palace.
Yet such triumphs may have come at a cost as Cristian Romero and Richarlison were forced to battle against Villa.
Fitness issues seem to be on the rise, so here’s a look at the latest Injuries at Tottenham…
Christian Romero
Cristian Romero was sent off in the win over Villa after appearing to injure himself while challenging Morgan Rogers.
After the match, Postecoglou revealed: “Romero yeah, it was in that challenge again. He felt his foot hurt. I have no other information. obviously it’s a pretty tough cookie to remove, it must be painful, but yeah, look, it’s not ideal.
Spurs are evaluating the Argentine this week, but reports from the player’s home country claim that Romero is likely to be out for around a week with a right toe injury. This would rule him out of matches against Galatasaray and Ipswich before the international break begins next week.
Potential return date: End of November
Micky van de Ven
Romero’s defensive partner Micky van de Ven broke down in tears during the win over City.
The Spurs boss revealed the Dutchman has avoided serious injury but is still not expected back before the international break later this month.
“He sprained a hamstring,” Postecoglou said ahead of the Villa game. “It’s not too serious, but probably after the international break for him.”
Potential return date: Early December 2024
Richarlison
Striker Richarlison has endured an injury-plagued campaign so far and suffered a further blow when he scored Dominic Solanke’s second goal against Villa, after coming on as an early substitute.
Postecoglou revealed: “Yes, I know Richy obviously felt something in the action of setting the goal, his hamstring, so we’ll see.”
Spurs are evaluating the striker this week.
Potential return date: Unknown
Wilson Odobert
The 19-year-old winger returned after a month out with a hamstring injury against AZ in late October, but suffered a serious setback according to Postecoglou.
“The only other absentee that’s a little disappointing is Wilson, who had a setback during the week and it looks like it’s serious so we’re just waiting for more information,” he said last week. “It’s not exactly the same thing [injury] but the same neighborhood.
Odobert, who joined Burnley in the summer for £25million, has made just five appearances for his new side.
Potential return date: Unknown
Djed Spence
The right-back recently signed a new contract with the club, but has been hampered in recent times by a groin strain sustained in training.
“We’re getting closer so we’re hoping that next week [he will] join training,” Postecoglou said before the right-back missed wins against City and Aston Villa.
